After Prohibition ended in 1933, Meyer turned his business acumen to casino gambling. He had carpet joints, so named for as a more luxurious club, throughout the U.S.

Saratoga Springs – Piping Rock and Arrowhead Inn Lake Houses

South Florida – up to 31 clubs at one time including The Colonial Inn, purchased from Barbara Walter’s father, Lou Walters

New Orleans – The Beverly Club

Council Bluffs – The Dodge Kennel Club

Meyer also had gambling operations in Europe in Monte Carlo, Monaco. His early investments went into Las Vegas (The El Cortez, The Thunderbird, The Sands, and The Flamingo), and Havana, Cuba (The Hotel Nacional, and his own resort, The Havana Riviera).
